Requirement
An existing filling station for emulsion paints needed to be replaced due to its age and the fact that spare parts were no longer available.
Solution
A completely new, semi-automatic system was installed that can be used to fill container sizes from 2.5 to 20 litres and is calibratable.
Both the scales and the downstream buffer section, which was also supplied, are equipped with roller conveyors for better product handling. These allow simple and easy onward conveying of the containers onto the scales and the buffer section for subsequent capping.
After the empty container has been manually positioned on the scale, the semi-automatic filling of the ink according to the target weight begins. The dosing is carried out via a two-stage valve in coarse and fine flow.
After reaching the target weight, the dosing stops and the filled container is pushed forward by the operator onto the buffer section. From there, the containers are transported to the customer's capping machine.
In addition to semi-automatic filling, there is also the option of controlling the dosing system completely manually. In this operating mode, the operating personnel can control the valves via buttons to fill containers.
The software installed on the weighing terminal features an automatic self-optimising correction. This evaluates the fillings already carried out and automatically adjusts the switch-off points for coarse and fine correction. This ensures high filling speeds and accurate weights without costly overfilling.
This meant that a future-proof solution could be installed and the filling accuracy optimised.
The most important added values
- Calibratable system for semi-automatic filling of containers between 2.5 and 20 litres
- Automatic correction of tolerances to optimise times and weights
- Additional manual control of the process via buttons
